Ranchuk is an artist based in Tel Aviv. He works on salvaged objects — circular saw blades, road signs, hand tools pulled out of workshops and skips around the city — repainting them until the thing itself becomes the picture. A blade's teeth turn into a jaw. The cut-out of a give-way sign becomes an open mouth.

The work borrows freely: cartoon faces, album covers, the flat colour of commercial signage. Nothing is smoothed over. Screw holes, rust, maker's stamps and old paint stay visible under the new coat, so each piece keeps a record of the job it used to do.
